Hot Flowing Pixel Festival 2011

It's scheduled for October 2011 the new appoitment with Hot Flowinf Pixel Festival. In its third year, the festival of animated shorts, born originally from an idea of Giovanni Gallo, Professor of Computer Graphics at University of Catania, is promoted by Erbematte Catania an Zelle Gallery for contemporary art in Palermo. This edition offers the possibility to access the selection by an open call to all those use the animation ad their own medium of expression. Three winners will be selected by a jury consisting in Irene D'Ambra (Fondazione Puglisi Cosentino), Alessandra Ferlito (Fondazione Brodbeck), Giovanni Gallo (University Catania), Raffaela Leone (Erbematte Catania) and Federico Lupo (Zelle Gallery Palermo). These works will be shown in three different locations in Catania and Palermo. The jury will sort the work for each location in respect with their own research lines. Si rinnova a ottobre 2011 l'appuntamento con Hot Flowing Pixel Festival. Giunta alla terza edizione, la rassegna di corti d'animazione, originariamente nata da un'idea del docente di Computer Graphics Giovanni Gallo, presso l'Università degli Studi di Catania, viene promossa dall'Associazione Erbematte di Catania e dalla Galleria Zelle di Palermo.

A caratterizzare questa edizione la possibilità di accedere alla selezione tramite bando aperto a tutti coloro che utilizzano l'animazione come proprio mezzo espressivo. Una giuria, composta da Irene D'Ambra, Alessandra Ferlito, Giovanni Gallo, Raffaela Leone e Federico Lupo, selezionerà tre vincitori i cui lavori verranno proiettati in tre diverse sedi tra le due città.

Ogni sede, in linea con la ricerca condotta, proietterà lavori appartenenti a generi diversi.

Raffaela Leone

Irene D'Ambra

Vive e lavora a Catania.

Dopo il diploma in scenografia presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania conseguito con la discussione di una tesi su Le fondazioni per l'arte contemporanea in Italia ha seguito i corsi della Fund Raising School di Forlì ottenendo il certificato in Fund Raising Management. Successivamente ha conseguito la laurea di secondo livello in Gestione e Innovazione delle Organizzazioni Culturali e Artistiche presso l'Università di Bologna, città dove ha collaborato con la galleria neon

Nel 2008 ha lavorato con Marina Sorbello come assistente alla direzione della Rassegna del Contemporaneo di Acireale.

Da luglio 2008 e fino a giugno 2011 è stata responsabile della segreteria tecnica e organizzativa della Fondazione Puglisi Cosentino di Catania, per la quale ha seguito l'organizzazione delle mostre Costanti del classico nell'arte del XX e XXI secolo, Burri e Fontana. Materia e Spazio, entrambe a cura di Bruno Corà, Carla Accardi. Segno e trasparenza, a cura di Luca Massimo Barbero e Segni comesogni. Licini, Melotti e Novelli fra astrazione e poesia, a cura di Gabriella Belli ed Alessandra Tiddia.

Da novembre 2010 collabora attivamente con l'associazione Erbematte di Catania.

Irene lives and works in Catania. She took a degree ar Fine Arts Accademy of Catania discussing a thesis on Contemporari Art Foundations in Italy and then she studied ar Forli's Fund Raising School. She took a second level degree in Innovation and Organization of Culture and the Arts at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Bologna. In this city she workes at neon>campobase contemporary art gallery. 2008 she worked with the curator Marina Sorbello as assistant to the direction of the Rassegna del Conptemporaneo in Acireale (Catania, Italy). From July 2008 since June 2011 she worked at Puglisi Cosentino Foundation of Catania as general administrator and techinical supervisor, in particulary for the organization of exhibitions.

Simce November 2010 she collabates wirh the noprofit organization Erbematte in Catania, as curator.

Raffaela Leone

Born in catania (I) 1970 founded 2007 in Catania the no profit association Erbematte with the friends and curators Alessandra Ferlito and Irene D'Ambra to promote site specific actions to spread the awareness of contemporary art and they mainly choose urban actions and events performed in very unconventional venues, to stress the idea that artand culture schould ne intended as a away of communication able to express itselfs everywhere. Latest projects: Erbematte Home Edition and Gli orti insorti (about urban gardens).

Federico Lupo

Born in Palermo (I) in 1984 where he still works and lives. In 2005 he gave birth to his first video series, "Biography trough ibjects" and in the same year he partecipated to the International artist's residency programs at Kunstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. Besides, he took part in several Festivals about video art and new medias, The Fragile (Bhimtal, India), Digital Media (Valentia,Spain), Video Sicilia (Catania,Italy), Vidi Festival (Valencia, Spain). In 2008 he worked on a project called " E il mangianastri mangiava anche me", followed in 2009 by "Apart and Between" (created for SACS radar, an exhibition that took place in Riso Museum of Conteporary Art in Sicily) ans "120" Before the last snow", a project hosted by 41ZERO30 (in Bomporto, Italy). In February 2010 he realized "Rumore Bianco", a complex video installation hosted by Quattrocentometriquadrati Gallery (Ancona, Italy). Since 2005, he also worked at Zelle Arte Contemporanea, his own contemporary art space in Palermo's historical heart.

Alessandra Ferlito

(Catania, 1978)

Graduated in Conservazione dei beni culturali at Università degli studi di Lecce, she is an independent curator and journalist, based in Catania. Since 2006, she has collaborated with different sicilian and italian magazines and with different exhibition spaces. In 2007, she co-founded the association Erbematte. Currently she writes on Flash Art, works as curator at the Fondazione Brodbeck arte contemporanea and collaborates, as critic, to the realization of the expositive program promoted by Galleria S.A.C.S., Riso, Museo d'arte contemporanea della Sicilia, curated by

Giovanni Iovane.
